Do you think that (generally speaking) people with lower self esteem and self confidence use internet dating sites more?
Internet dating?
Internet dating is not for freaks and geeks anymore. The use of the Internet is so wide spread that people are probably staying in more because they don't have to get out to socialize as much.....hence a wider variety of people turning to the Internet dating.
Reply:yes becaue its hard for them to get people in the real world with that low self esteem they are to down on themselves and when they do it to themselves on the net the people say no your not fat or no your not dumb or something like that and it makes them feel better.
Reply:if not, then just trying as many ways as possible to find someone
Reply:Maybe yeah, but the fact is that people simply don't have the time to meet people anymore so it's easier to"meet" people online.
Friends of mine met online and have been together for years, so it can work out!
Reply:I don't thiink so. It is just another tool to meet new people. And like everywhere else, there are good and bad people.
Reply:No,not nescessarily.More likely bullshit predatory opportunists or con artists poseing as somenoe else.Obviously people You`ve described would feel more confident via internet, and it`s easier.Under Your nose all the time.I wouldn`t feel comfortable getting chatted up in real life and to take it further.I`d rather get to know more about a lot of suitors than just go out and get attached to someone and end up blind. You can always meet them.Takes perseverance though, alot of it.
Reply:I do because they're nervous around other ppl
Reply:no i dont think so its very much common place now,
..........maybe when it was all new it was easier for people with low self esteem but a very high percentage of people do it.
the interent is now also the biggest cause of relationship breakups
Reply:your low self esteem is apparent by your very question. sounds like you could use some counseling ie positive reinforcement etc.
Reply:I would say yes. All a bunch on losers.
only kidding. it could be a great way for people with restrictive lives to meet more people. Like single mums or people caring for sick family members. If u meet up as a result of it, that takes some guts i would think.
I dont know though, as i havent dont it... I have a real Girlfriend, arf arf.
Reply:No I use it and dont have low self esteem..... Just very unlucky in love and not found the right one yet....
Reply:u flirt =P=P=P=P
Reply:yes, i know cos i use them
Reply:ya i do..i think dey dont find der physical appearence so dey will try to go out internet dating becuase da person cant c der face
Reply:and why not? but i think it is not a true statement in any case.
Reply:no. we r all so busy ...i think it is a covience.
Reply:Excellent question! How could one possibly "measure" esteem/confidence levels over the internet?
Reply:I think it's just lonely shy people looking to talk....Who knows who is really who on them?? Sounds scary...
Reply:Well generally speaking its probably only paedophiles and nuns who use internet dating
Reply:Definitely not....I've used them and I have a very high self esteem and I'm very confident...But I work alot..So I just thought it would be alot easier...By the time I get home at night I really don't feel like going out to the bars..If anything Internet dating is for workaholics!
Reply:NO! Definitely not - it's just a another avenue to meet someone. These days people are so busy with work and stuff that they haven't got time to meet someone in the conventional way. There will obviously be some people with low self esteem using it, but definitely not all. And using internet dating sites hasn't got the stigma that it used to have. In fact I hear people often suggesting to single people why don't they try internet dating. It's the year 2006! It's called modern technology.
Reply:no doubt about it
Reply:it could be a reason but I cant say all of them have low self esteem ..I think they just want to find someone with similar common senses .But i think mostly are old and out of shape ..
Reply:I dont think so. I know that I have no self esteem or self confidence issues and that I have been told that I am downright cocky even. I used the internet to find someone with whom I might have things in common, get to know them better etc... and not waste alot of my time. Time is a precious thing and something that I dont have alot of. I was able to find my wife whom I have been married to for over 5 years now. During those 5 years I was stationed in Germany for 1 1/2 years (Alone) and then deployed for another 1 1/2 years. We have finally spent our first year together this past year. ( I was in the Military and retired last year.)
Reply:Not anymore. I think it's generally older people who know they want a relationship and have had a gutfull of going to clubs etc that use them.
Reply:well i know i do but if you are under the age of 12 then NO
Reply:Its a tricky ques no doubt ...the ans is both yes and no,75% yes 25% no
practically depends on the person....a person having suffered a lot in his life wud be afraid to take on the spot decisions.
But internet dating does help u come to know about the other person so much u can be as free as u want to ,on both sides, just relaxes and prepares u to take anything ... besides i wud i like to know a person completely before i do nething so which may take 2 yrs .. may be but prepare for the best ...
Reply:I think, the possibility of people adjusting to becoming a single person involves a lot emotional growth , while figuring this out I suppose it's only a human behaviour to find like wise individuals .
does that answer your question?
Reply:nope, everyone can use internet dating sites, whatever level of self esteem they have, its up to an individual how she/he wanted to consider internet dating site, some are just for fun, some are just to be with different race, some just want to try something new,but yes some are really very desperate to have a partner
Reply:It could be, but it could also be people who work alot and don't have time for actual dating. Many people work 40+ hours a week and internet dating fits their schedule.

Internet dating?
Internet dating, is it safe? what are your views ?
Internet dating?
It's probably safer than meeting someone in a bar.
You get the chance to have long "chats" with them, talk to them about their interests, families, their history, preferences, etc.
And when you do meet, it's usually for coffee with no real expectations aside from having coffee and maybe meeting a new friend. If it looks, at that point, like there's something there worth pursuing... then you can opt for that.
Reply:At first I thought it was a bunch of weirdos on there, judging by this whacked out dude I used to work with who use it all the time. But then I tried it and at first I didn't care a whole lot for it. But after a while I realized the women on there are looking for the same thing we are. I just started dating a woman I met on-line and she is such a terrific person. It's just like meeting a woman in person. Treat them with respect.
Reply:Its same like dating in real, only you can't see and touch the person with whom your dating. do you know how your datter looks? If you know, how can you be sure its not someone else in your datters place. Think about it.
Reply:Yea if your a freak. There are all kinds on there.
Reply:The word 'safe' there is quite relative. We cannot guarantee that dating outside the net will be safer.
This is my view. Love or feeling like toward a person can happen anywhere, anytime, through anything, it likes. Including through internet. Most of the time, the romance in the net refers to a long distance connection or relationship. This distance can be different cities, states, or even countries.
Long distance relationship is okay as long as you will not do it forever. It cannot be done in a long period. At some time, one of you got to move in order to get close to the other.
It also okay to meet someone over the net and let our feeling grow. But relationship in any kind requires trust. If you have a long distance relationship then you need an extra energy and time to build the trust. Don't rush, take the time, because time will truly tell.
According to my own experience, I don't give any contact details (phone numbers, real address) before I really know the person. Then cellphone number will be enough to start giving the contact details for more.
Reply:I met my girlfriend on the internet, we met in a public place and there were no shocks because i'd known her for two years. webcams, microphones, etc. She was the same person in real life as online but my point is, if you do it correctly it's fine.
Careful though, people aren't always who they say they are
Reply:I met my husband online 6 years ago ( I was in New England and we was in Michigan). We spoke online and on the phone for 6 months before we met face to face (we had exchanged pics). It was a fabulous experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Reply:don't waste your time on internet for this if you are looking for a serious relationship. however, for fun, you can do anything!!!
Reply:Its Great...
if you like phedofiles!
Reply:Of course it is! Your only risk is carpel tunnel syndrome.
Reply:I think it's equally as safe as other types of dating. unless you are meeting someone through a mutual friend, you don't really know who you are dating until you get to know them. I think it's a fantastic way to meet people who you might otherwise never meet.
Reply:In most cases it isn't safer or unsafer than any other
dating with people you don't know. Media is highly
exaggerating the problem. There is a problem. But
that's a general problem with meeting someone you
don't know. It has nothing to do where you first met
that person. Unless of course you met in "one of those
places". But then again. You'd have to find the matching
real world example to match the risk.
Reply:It's perfectly fine... as long as your not chatting with some serial killer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Internet dating?
Has anyone tried that internet dating? I did twice and both times my heart was broken. It is not what it adverstises. So tell me, how can I meet a man? It is so hard to now a days? Maybe I am trying too hard?
Internet dating?
Just be yourself. Don't rush into things, talk to them man/men for some months before agreeing to anything. I met my husband online. We met in a chat room, not a dating sight. However, we took the time to really get to know each other before meeting and all that. He moved from Australia to be with me and we have been married for 10 years now!
Reply:i met my guy online, we went out for about 3 months as friends before moving into dating status. we have been together about 1 year and 2 months right now. Things have gone well, we are thinking about marriage and buying house together. Report It
Reply:it worked for me, the first date i had, i stayed a weekend with her, but she had such a hard time getting into my 4x4 pick-up, i guess it just wasn't meant to be. my second was a lady who lived 150 miles away. i went to her house, we went out to a resteraunt, and talked for a couple hours, the next weekend we got a motel room, and she was ready to move in with me.
Reply:you just have to trust your instincts and not believe everything your told. it pays to be sceptical in those cases
Reply:maybe ur not really, its not that hard at all just flirt around in school and stuff
Reply:I thought the same thing I thought it was goin to take forever to find someone. But you just got to flirt around and then the one that thinks your the one will come to you and stay with you, believe me they'll stick. And you'll also have a lil bit of fun while lookin too.
Reply:it's really not hard to meet guys-- you just have to be the one with the balls every once in a while and approach them... cuz sometimes guys turn into man-giners (means puss)
Reply:i've tried the internet thing and the first time was a real disappointment, but the 2nd time i met a wonderful person... we kept seeing each other till just recently... you have to love yourself before any one else can love you.... the right guy will come along..be patient... join some clubs or co-ed sports teams those are great places to meet new people... goodluck!
Reply:just flirt around %26amp;never stop smiling b/c you never know who is falling in love with it good luck

Is Internet Dating ok? or is it a bad idea? Because this girl on Yahoo!360 ask to be my girlfriend?
Internet Dating?
i think internet dating is bad..because i use to play like other people..and who knows who that person might actually be..i think you should find somebody or a girlfriend in person..not on the internet
Reply:it's not really bad/good thing, it just leads to nothing. Or something bad. Okay, so it's a bad thing.
=P
Reply:thats bad
Reply:Look it dosent matter if its the internet, or a bar, or the grocery store, or your local PTA, or the frigging church...if a woman/man intends to play you for a fool they are going to do just that and have no problem, cheaters/players dont care what affiliation you use, they will get thiers and leave you with nothing, its their MO. So date who you want. If you have a girlfriend let them know that you DO intend to have them date and see you on a regular basis, dont fall for the internet stuck in a box kind of guy. Good Luck hun.-Rachel.
Reply:No its isn`t a good idea.

What is ur opinion on internet dating? Would do it and what u think about others who do it?
Internet dating?
I did it, and bailed out in a few years. People you meet stinks. Uneducated, and flat out lie, and most are 20lb fatter than the picture. When you open up the door and let anyone in, you would end up with tons of low quality people. That is how internet dating turned out to be. Because anyone can join, that the quality went down to the floor.
If you want to try one, go with the most expensive one. You would get better quality of people.
Reply:Internet dating is great as long as you set yourself certain rules and stick to them. Remember that even though you might have chatted on the computer for a while, you still don't really know who you are talking to. You can never be too careful.
Reply:I met my husband online, though we were email friends first before we hung out in person, then quickly fell in love. I was looking for a friend not a soul mate, but it turned out quite happily! You can meet nice people online, you can meet jerks, all in about the same proportion as you can in real life. Just use the same common sense you would if someone picked you up at a coffee shop or bar.
Reply:I agree with the previous answer. Also, write a while before you meet. You really get to know the person. This way you can weed out the weirdos and the totally incompatible.

Anyone had success with internet dating, i look much better in life than a photo but had no replies. are photos the only important thing.
Internet dating?
Nope, detail in answering the questions is.
Reply:no, there are a lot of freaks out there.
Reply:photos are not as important as the character of a person...
Reply:I've had a lot of fun and a few long term relationships that began online and translated into traditional relationships. It is hard though, I guarantee that! Best of Luck!
Reply:Personality is always more important
....but maybe ya had no replies cos ppl are careful of strangers?
Try doin a good 'myspace' or other site that shows what you are like and good luck!
Reply:it depends on your luck. it works for some ppl and it doesn't work for some other ppl.
the bottom line is that ppl can lie on their profile.
a friend of mine met a guy through online dating site and met him in person. his profile says his income is more than $50,000 and he works in a bank. it turned out that he lied about it. he was just a pizza delivery man at the age of 32
he even looked different from his pics and it turned out that those pics were taken more than 7 years ago.
it was really ridiculous.
Reply:lol..I've been told by a few ppl I've met online, I look nothing like my pic or even when I've been on cam...ppl are for the most part superficial creatures...I met my fiance online..so yes there are relationships that do work out. I also know of other relationship where ppl have met online and worked out...in saying that...I know alot more ppl that have been hurt on here, bad endings out number the good ones by far...in my experience.
Reply:Photos are very important and don't let anyone tell you differently. Just about every f**k friend that I have I met on the internet. If you don't have a pic then eventually you will have to send them one. Some women who are actually looking for something deeper might not be so interested in seeing your pic. But sexually you best believe a pic is important.
Reply:women always say they are looking for a sweet guy with a sense of humour - THEY LIE so you should too the best way to get more replies is to lie about your earnings - make it as high as you think you could get away with - chicks dig cash - thats all you need to know

can you tell me tha pro's and con's of internet dating.can you respect some one you found on a dating site?
Internet dating?
Pros:
-I think genuinely good people go through internet dating. In my opinion, I think it is a good alternative to meeting someone if you not up for meeting a future "significant other" at a bar while being hit on while everyone around you is drunk =)
-My BFF met a guy through internet dating and they dated for a good three years and are still really good friends
-It can be a good oppurtunity to meet some different and interesting people than you are used to
Cons:
-Not everyone tells the truth about themselves...it's easier to lie about ourselves when we have the safety of just typing a description of ourselves
-in rare occasions, meeting someone through internet dating can be dangerous...a.k.a...someone with bad intentions
I have to admit, I have never tried internet dating, but I think it is completely respectable.
If you're not meeting Mr./Mrs. Right at school, through work, or out on the town, then I don't see a problem with searching for him or her throught the internet.
Just make sure you are safe about it. When meeting them in person for the first time, meet in a very public place or have a group of your friends meet with a group of his friends for a more relaxed night out. Or Vise Versa.
Go with your gut instinct. If you meet the person face to face and feel something isn't right, then you are probably right. Don't feel bad for ditching, you still got to keep your standards!
I think it takes just as much courage to meet someone and start something online as it is to meet someone at a bar.
Hope this helped at least a little!
