Internet dating and revealing your age? A question please!?

I have a woman friend who is 42 and she met her boyfriend on an internet dating site. She looks ten yeas younger. So she put her age down as 32 and chatted to this guy for 2 months. Then they met up for the first time and she told him her real age straight away. He didn't mind at all and they feel in lvoe. They have now been together for five years. What do people think of this? First of all, I thought it was a bit dishonest but I see her point...that many guys would have skipped her by in the searches not realising that she looks so good. Also, she made sure she was upfront with them on the first date so as not to lead them along.

Internet dating and revealing your age? A question please!?
While it is a little dishonest...there's a point in life where age variances don't matter that much. Many women who look younger (and think younger) fib about their age -- I think that is just a woman thing -- and yes, she probably would have been passed by if she had told her true age.

If you asked the question on Y/A if a woman fibs a little about her age, I bet you'd find that the vast majority do -- those who are under 21 add a few years, those that are over 30 shave a few years.

Honestly...I'd probably do the same thing. Nah, not probably, definitely. Oops...typo!
Reply:Lying is lying, no matter what kind of reasoning is given for it. I would not trust someone if the first thing they told me was a lie. I am 51 and I may or may not look 51... but i'm very proud to be this age!!!
Reply:I wouldn't do it myself, but it sounds like it worked for her. To each their own. There are worse things to lie about than your age.
Reply:Im happy for them... LOve at first sight....lol
Reply:sorry, if she can't be honest about something like her age, then why would or should he expect her to be honest about other things. I'm sorry, I would of told her to get lost.
Reply:Internet dating is quite dangerous, u know with perverts and stalkers and to people who you don't know. But other than that I do not know about this age thing.
Reply:Its dishonesty....no matter what her motivations were...Did she not post a picture of herself? If she looks younger than her age...any guy would have seen that.....sorry...but I don't agree with what she did....I look about 10 years younger than what I am...but I am proud to tell people that I am 41....
Reply:dont do it unless ur desoerate because there re crazy people out there
Reply:Some people would be turned off by the lying, and wonder what else they lied about. I wouldn't do it. If you look younger, then say I'm 42 but look 32. It worked out for her but for some other women it might not. If someone would skip over your profile because you put your real age, that tells you something.
Reply:I see nothing wrong with it and as you explained, there's a good enough motivation for her lying about her age in the chatroom.
Reply:I prefer the smaller dating sites and the niche sites. I recommend trying

Reply:you're jealous that she found love and is hapy despite her lie. but she clarified and so its ok
Reply:you have to understand that with internet "dating" anything goes...and when reality comes to head, you may be disappointed or not....if he is ok with it, then good. Expectations should be kept low with online stuff
Reply:It sounds okay the way you tell it. Sometimes (Internet or real) people present one image at the outset and have to ease the truth in later. It's unfortunate, but it seems to work in situations where the truth is volunteered soon after.
Reply:it is dishonest and probably a fraud. i see your point that she disclosed her real age in the first meeting and all ended happy. but not every meeting goes so smooth. and in future, the couple may break-up just on the ground that the base of the relation was a lie. i mean, i believe that certain things should not be hidden or falsified.I have a friend, he fell in love from internet meeting, the girl was underage but told her age as 18. they had sex and when she got pregnant it was a big shambo..!!
Reply:good
Reply:I am married now, but I have talked to men via internet dating sites when I was single. I would have trouble finding out that the other person lied to me---this dishonesty could be the "red flag" for more dishonesty down the road. That, most likely, would have been my last date with the dishonest person.
Reply:maybe times have changed, but she should have been honest from the get go, I am ... but heres a recent pic
