Internet dating, is it strange to like someone from a distance on your computer?

I've done the internet dating searching thing and it sucks. I don't know if i should keep going with it, plus people are saying that your a loser if you have to find someone on the internet.

Internet dating, is it strange to like someone from a distance on your computer?
Hmmmm..

I guess I'm the luckiest, happiest loser in the world, then.

My fiancee lives in the Philippines. We met on the internet, we fell in love on the interet, we confirmed our love in person, we got engaged in person, and will be married later this year.

It had nothing to do with "searching" on the internet, but had everything to do with finding a lady who is such a good match, so compatible, that it makes me so wonderfully happy.

Internet "dating" should be just one avenue you explore. It's just another way to meet people. Then you still have to go through all the hard stuff, just like in person. You must take the time to really learn about the person, take the time to compare interests and values, and really get to know the person inside and out.

After meeting my GF online, we started slowly, just chatting, then short phone calls, and then longer and longer phone calls. Now we spend anywhere from 2-3 hours on the phone per day, and chat also.

So, is it strange.. SURE.. but so is going into a bar, getting drunk, leaving with someone you don't really know, and......

At least we both had the opportunity to really, deeply know each other before our relationship was ever physical in any way.

Wow.. I'm rambling.. Good luck in whatever way you meet the love of your life. I just look at "internet dating" as one more way to possibly find the special person you dream of and not be limited to a small geographical area.
Reply:It is not strange to like someone on your computer. We do hear of so many people who had successful relationships through the internet. However, it is difficult to know if the person on the other side is genuine or not. There are lot of people who do it just for fun and pastime and if you are serious and the other person is just pretending, you could get hurt.

It is very important to see the person to get to know someone better.

Good luck.
Reply:No, it's not. I dated 2 guys in the past that I met on the internet. I met them in person and everything. I was even engaged to one of them and he moved to be closer to me, but the distance was still difficult. You have to be able to cope with being far apart and really ask yourself if it could ever work. If you think it can then I say go for it. Why limit yourself to the people in the area when there is a world full of people out there?
