Is this the last ditch effort for losers or the new age of interaction?

Internet dating...?
I perfer the new age of interaction as it allows two people to get acquainted before they confront any other issues. It takes a lot of courage to talk to someone online, but reality is the same as in person, if that person developes a want they will tell you, if they do not. Personally I think it saves lots of time as if you approach it correctly you can filter all of the players and fakes out more quickly. I just figured out a female that was using it as a self esteem builder or whatever but was not serious. Those that are not serious or liars will filter quickly and there are several other traits that have to be used with that kind of meeting that are hard to see in person because of distractions, touching or other things that cloud rational thinking, plus it takes real genuiness to meet someone online. The fakes are far easier to find than in person. I hope it is a new age of interaction, smarter people are using the online meeting as you can determine the intellingence of a person by the way they express themselves, spell, level of words they use, manners, education. It is not just a matter of typing words, engage them with real conversation and find out just how smart they are and what they are about. It does not take long to spot stupids and fakes and saves time and money. Life is short if your looking for a mate and the meat market is full of them, one looking like the other. I think that online meeting is a good tool for those that know how to use it.

Reply:I would say it is a combination of both honestly. It can be very dangerous to meet someone on the internet because you truly don't know who they are or what kind of person they are until you truly meet them and get to know them that way. A lot of psychos use it as a way to find victims. It is a new way to interact with others but the safety of it is questionable. The people who use it either way have to be very careful because they can get themselves into a compromising situation in a hurry meeting someone on the internet. On the other hand, there are also many legitimate people who are shy or do not meet people easily but they are good people that want to meet someone and find it to be a useful tool.
