INTERNET DATING? how do you know if he's honest?

hi, i met this guy on an internet dating site. we live in different states. The problem is that im uncertain about things that he tells me. he said that the moment he saw my picture he knew i would be his wife within 6 months. he is 17yrs older than me and i'm not sure about my feelings for him. How soon is to soon to talk about marriage. Also is there any such thing as love at first site? would love to here about internet dating experience.

INTERNET DATING? how do you know if he's honest?
Lose this guy NOW! Talking about marriage so soon in your "relationship" is a tell-tale sign of abusiveness (or at the very least mental instability).

As for knowing whether or not your internet paramours are being truthful, you don't. For that reason, always trust your intuition. If you feel that someone is exaggerating (or lied outright) they probably did.

Talk on the phone with the person a few times. And when you decide to meet face to face with an internet friend, meet in public. Tell a friend where you are going if you decide not to bring them along. And don't tell your date where you live or give them your home phone number.
Reply:personally i wouldn't do it...it doesnt seem like a good idea and 17yrs older! im sure you could find somone in ur city or state to date instead of taking the risks involved with the internet.
Reply:c'mon sounds like to me this guy is willing to get with anybody.

17yrs older, different states, do the math?

then again if you guys actually have a connection good enough to throw in the big step, go for it!

it all depends on how long you've been talking to him.

i'd say a good 8 months, that way you can still " check" him out %26amp; see if your actually falling for him.

As for love at first sight, i think its bull.

i've dated guys that at first glance i would've never ever approached more or less loves.

good luck sweeetie%26lt;3
Reply:Right about now you should be hearing alarm bells ringing! It's far too soon to talk about marraige.
Reply:I have had several. First off, communicate about everything for a few months at least prior to meeting. You have to meet the man in PERSON to really know if it might be developing into love.

I connected with 9 men from the internet, all strangers initially until the last one (who was my first love from grade school, he contacted me on Classmates). The rest were either just sex or in the case of 2 of them - they wanted to marry, but the chemistry wasn't there for me.

We are friends with several couples who met online %26amp; married though, and all are still happy...so you just have to communicate for awhile, then be together. You never really know until it's in person.
Reply:to me, it would b best to get a husband from walking around but i guess this is fine. wait...17 YEARS OLDER? if you dont feel comfortable with this marriage, break up with him
Reply:they all lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:You don't know when they're lying. That's why I despise Internet dating. My sister once dated this guy over the Internet, and she got really close to him. Then, after a while, she started thinking that he was maybe fake. Turns out, she was right.

You don't know what they're lying about. That's why you shouldn't trust them. Plus, this man is old enough to be your father. It speaks volumes about his problems. Maybe he should try going for someone around his own age. Marriage? Why would you want to talk marriage with someone when you don't even know them?

Don't do the whole let's-talk-on-the-phone deal. That requires allowing them to know your number, and that's never a good thing. Someone told you to talk to them on the phone, and then they added that you shouldn't give out your number. They'll find out your number if you talk to them on the phone, whether you give it to them or not. Just be smart about it.
