About as safe as it is to meet them at the bar. Nothing's really "safe" anymore. Just use your best judgment and instincts. They are pretty much your only defense.

Reply:yes and no... meet in a crowded place.. let your family know or friends know where you are going, and phone your friend when you meet your date.. check it out... if older then use common sense
Reply:no... and if you must do it in a public place and bring a friend. do not go anywhere with the person and bring along some pepper spray.
Reply:After chatting for almost 4yrs, I went to India, met my special guy and married him within 48 hours of meeting him in person. Internet dating can be safe as long as all the right precautions are met.
