Internet Dating?

My friend has been dating this new guy for just about a month. She met him online and they are not exactly an exclusiv couple as they are both on the website where they met and still talk to other people. She really enjoys his company and he enjoys hers too and seems to really like her. She asked me if she should buy him a Christmas gift and what kind of gift she should purchase. I told her that I think it was too soon to buy a gift for him, what should she do?

i would only send a ecard, but i'm not into internet dating, i don't trust them and i personally like the physical part of my relationship

Reply:for all i know the guy could be lying to u. he could be older than u and he could even be a player. have u met? if the answer is no than i don't see the point of buying a gift. if u have than wait to see what he going to give u first.
Reply:Chances are, like she's talking to other people, he is also. Though you form relationships with others over the internet that can be rewarding and beautiful, you still never really know the person and I don't think that a month is enough time at all to be thinking about sending him a gift, maybe if they keep the internet relationship up for a year or better it might be worth it. That way it'll show that he's really interested and not just there to gain her temporary interest so he can get some nude pictures or a one night stand. Also, we think we know people that we meet on the internet, but you can say anything from behind a computer screen. You can be anyone. You can take on any personality. He might be open to her now, but if they met 1. he could be a creep and 2. he could be shockingly shy or shockingly more outgoing than the impression he made over the internet. On the internet, people are more comfortable because the pressure generated by physical presence isn't there and if they don't get along they can simply block one another and forget it.


So, no I wouldn't waste money on a gift just yet.
