Divorced ladies: ever had luck with internet dating sites?

I've been divorced for 5 years and have a young son. My ex and I are great friends, so I don't have terrible feelings around it. It took me a long time to get close to someone, only to have it be over in only 2 months. The man was hot but just totally wrong for me, a bit of a sexist pig once I got to know him better. Now I want to date some more, and have been using internet dating sites off and on for years, with no success. The men sound great on paper and their pictures are ok, but I just kind find myself getting hot over them! I can converse with just about anyone and have a pretty good time, but that doesn't mean there's chemistry. I'm sick of blind dates (even if I've seen their picture...so it's 'medium 'blind). I'm in my mid-40's and it's hard to find an unmarried man where I live close to my age. But I'm just plain too reluctant and scared to meet someone I've never actually "met" before. Any advice?

Have you tried plentyoffish.com which is the biggest completely free dating site. They organise singles events where you can meet people in person if you prefer to forgo all the online stuff.

Reply:,l understand what your going through, i am divorced as well, i think Internet dating is great, but don't just use that as a way to meet people, your life has changed, and so now you need to change, if you meet someone on line that you like, talk to them for a few days, but then meet for coffee, and if there is nothing there , move on, there are plenty of fish in the sea, and start getting out more, do new things you have not done before,make yourself happy, and before you know it happiness will find you.
Reply:Not divorced but I do have women friends who have been divorced and they tried "speed dating", so if you have that in your area, it's great to try! Plus you get to see the actual person and decide if you're even attracted and/or like their personality, versus a picture on the internet.

actually meeting them face to face, at the grocery store, or when shopping at the mall, or where ever........be social, and friendly and see what happens......
