Internet Dating. Who is turned off by?

I have shown my friends profiles of men on the internet dating network to which I belong. And they are uncomfortable if a guy has a photo with a hot looking woman or women with their arms around him. First of all, is that the only pic you have and second of all what is the point of it? I was not that turned off, but my co-workers think it is distasteful? Like, who is the girl, they ask? Even if it is a shot where they see an arm wrapped around the dude and some pretty long fingernails.

Is anyone else turned off by this?

Internet Dating. Who is turned off by?
I hate to say this, but i actually took my own digital opposed to ones that i have with my friends in them. A bit distasteful on their part if you ask me.
Reply:Yes. That is the first thing I think is "who is she" and "why is she in that picture" Total turnoff. I never even read the profiles with these types of pics.
Reply:Internet dating in general is good I think. Its a good jumping off point. But if there is anything that puts you off no matter how slight, go to the next one.

That said, I met my cutie online and we have been together for 6 years now.

Again, its just a jumping off point. What you do from there is up to you.
Reply:Correct, it's not a good thing.
Reply:I agree it is distasteful, they just want to give the impression that they can get a women, to overcome there nerdy feeling of looking for love online like a computer nerd.
Reply:When the women are visible in the picture, I'll skip it. Its just distasteful and makes me wonder if they are a player or if they're already attracting beautiful women, what is so wrong with them that they choose to try internet dating services?

If it's a cut off with only an arm visible, I let it pass. Maybe it's an ex or a friend with them and is simply one of the few good pictures they have. Usually, if I decide to contact them, I'll ask who the arm belongs to, but I don't make a big deal outta it.

Just ask your friends and coworkers "How many honestly GOOD pictures of just yourself do you have?" Personally, I have three. All the others are with friends, both male and female, or small children that I don't want mistaken for mine.
Reply:Are you asking who is turned off by internet dating? Or, are you askign who is turned off by the guy you describe? I can sort of see why you are turned off by that guy. However, I don't see why it would turn you off to internet dating entirely. If anything, it served its purpose very well in this case. The guy presented a collection of information advertising himself as a prospective date. You didn't like what you saw and you made a quick decision to move on. You avoided the hassle of wasting an hour or two at a bar with the guy or having to go on a date that won't lead to anything.
Reply:I sure am; but my favorites are the guys who are looking for "pen pals"; what is this, elementary school? But the worse ones are the guys who will, openly admit in their profiles that they are "with someone". Why do they have an active profile if they have someone? You really have to read between the lines when it comes to profiles on dating sites, even on the Christian ones.
Reply:Yes for one I am a guy so dating men is out anyway and two, half the time people lie, exaggerate, and are really ugly people who have no life.
Reply:it is sooooo not a good thing, trust me.even though it works for some people but please dont do it!! i know what im talking about so yea.its not right,ya never know who it is
Reply:Could be a copy / paste job.
Reply:All of the dudes that have those pictures usually say its a sister or cousin or daughter the truth is if you arent GORGEOUS and look like a Dallas Cheerleader you arent going to get a second date, even if they are as big as a two story house and their pic doesnt look anything like the one they put in.They still think they are Gods gift.I have however met some wonderful ,smart, funny men who have become great friends.Dont take it personal or too serious.
Reply:I dont know about all that guy stuff as i dont care about it, but its how i met my wife. I didnt post naked pics or anything. And Im from Australia and now live with her in the states. So good endings do happen.
Reply:no it could be a sister or other relative.
