Is there such a thing a an Internet Dating Addiction?

I have been seeing someone on and off (mostly off) for the past year. We met on an internet dating site. We have a great time together and share same interests. He finds me attractive and is always complimenting me. I don't understand why he would not want to try to develop the relationship but prefers to continue searching with the internet dating site. Can some people have an addiction to internet dating? They see the next person in their mailbox as someone better than the last?

No, I don't think internet dating can become an addiction as it is mostly infuriating! I think the problem is that internet dating can make you more choosy, and whilst this man may enjoy your company he probably doesn't see you as a person he'd want to settle with on a deeper level. He is probably still searching because he believes that eventually he will find someone who is perfect for him. You may have to accept the fact that this man has no intention of settling with you, so perhaps you would be better to start searching for someone who can fulfill your needs. I'm sure he will be out there.
Reply:yes
Reply:There is such a thing because we can addicted to anything. From alcohol to drugs to porn to dating sites. Even answering questions on here can be addicting. You just need to tell him if he continues to put you on the back burner then your out. Your not some he can just come back to each time he doesn't like that person in mailbox of his email.
Reply:Maybe he's not after a serious relationship, he's just having fun, at least he's being honest and not have a relationship with you and then cheat on you. Why don't you ask him what he really wants? I don't believe there is such a thing as internet dating addiction, internet or not some people just like playing around rather than being "tied" with someone.
Reply:i think people think they will miss the perfect person if they settle for some "one" so they keep dating. i would judt move on. good luck.
Reply:Oh yes. My friend's mom cheated on her dad with someone she met on an internet dating site, then when they divorced, cheated on the guy she met online with ANOTHER guy she met online. People feel the need to be desired and wanted, and now they can get that from the comfort of their own home. Have a talk with your man and keep him in check.
